Green Walk: Winter birds along the Water of Leith

Saturday 2 November @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)
Good places for birdwatching along the Water of Leith and in Inverleith Park

Plenty of birdlife to spot on this walk – possible highlights include kingfisher and nuthatch but lots more! Also plenty of other things to look at by way of bridges, weirs and architecture for those not so interested in birds.

We’ll meet at 10:30 am at the footbridge to Murrayfield Ice Rink in Roseburn park, then walk along the Water of Leith (crossing and admiring the cycle path!) to the Belford Bridge – detour up here through the Dean Cemetery and rejoin the river at the weir. Walk down through Stockbridge and Inverleith Park, finishing at the Botanic Gardens where we can got to the cafe or wander on to a pub in Stockbridge.

Here’s the route >

There will be steep steps on this walk and no dogs are allowed in the cemetary or Botanics (though these sections could be missed out if that would stop you coming). Cafe customer toilets at start and finish, public toilets at Stockbridge.

Please wrap up well for the weather as this will be a slow walk with lots of stops. Bring binoculars if you have them.
