Simon Jay

Simon Jay is the Green candidate for Bathgate and Linlithgow in the 2024/2025 General Election.

Having worked as a writer and performer in Edinburgh since 2011 and moving here in 2017 (because of the horrendous politics south of the border), I am proud to be a Scottish Green. As a working-class autistic NB person, the party has welcomed me warmly.

My own activism on a community level has included participating in Critical Mass cycle rides, volunteering for the LGBT+ Helpline, and as a befriender for refugee charity The Welcoming. I’m passionate about tackling local issues; better travel infrastructure, safe rooms and tenants rights.

I’d speak from lived experience about issues that matter to us, such as mental health, disability and gender rights.

Over the course of the campaign, I promise to:

• Be a fearless advocate for our party’s core values;
• Challenge the idea that UK Elections can’t focus on Green Policy;
• Work 24/7 for every vote, and take up every opportunity to get the party’s message out there.
